Engineering Manager

Remtec, Inc., a fast-growing manufacturer of metallized ceramic substrates and packages is currently seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of engineering manager in Norwood, MA.  This position will report to the company President and will serve as a member of the company’s senior management team.

Responsibilities will include managing the daily activities of the engineering department; setting high standards while holding people accountable to those standards; adding to, or upgrading, the team as necessary.  The position will also work extensively with customers; collaborate with all the company’s other departments to ensure that the manufacturing process runs efficiently; conduct failure analysis when a problem with the product occurs.  The position must be able to work with the Sales team to design new products including product costing; manage and participate in R&D activity; hold a leading role regarding CAPEX needs; maintain and modify procedures for ECNs and production documentation development.

Should have a strong team work orientation and must have expertise and experience in Manufacturing/Process Engineering as well as R&D activity in Hybrid Microcircuits, Thick/Thin Film Processing, and Packaging Technology. Management experience is highly desirable.  A track record of success in engineering roles, particularly those involving product design; familiarities with AutoCAD, with mechanical drawings and layout design.  Working knowledge of the materials and processes needed to fabricate a metallized substrate and package: screen printing and sintering, photolithography, etching, plating, lapping/polishing, laser trimming and testing, dicing, and assembly.  Some experience with plating on ceramic or plating of ceramic electronic components is a definite plus.  The ability to perform in a dynamic, rapidly growing and fast-paced company with multifaceted responsibilities.  A multi-discipline approach and self-motivation are essential.  A comfort level in dealing with customers, vendors, and other constituents and the ability to travel occasionally.  Undergraduate engineering degree in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, electronic technology, or material science is required; graduate degree a plus.

Quality Visual/Mechanical Inspector

Remtec, Inc., a fast-growing manufacturer of metallized ceramic substrates and packages is currently seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position for visual/mechanical inspection in our quality department at the Norwood, MA facility.

The position is responsible for performing visual inspection of electronic components, packages, metalized ceramics and hybrid product using low and higher power magnification.  Candidate must be able to measure parts and determine dimensional conformance with CMM, use various hand measurement tools and conduct various electrical and mechanical functional testing.  Other responsibilities include making product acceptance determination in accordance with written criteria, document inspection results for both conforming and non-conforming products and perform other duties as required.

Should be a good a team player with the ability to communicate effectively in English verbally and in writing throughout the organization, write legibly, have a working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software, and possess the ability to work for extended periods using microscope for inspection.  The position requires five years inspection experience in a fast-paced technical industry; being able to read and understand engineering drawings and technical procedures; work in an ISO certified company, and the ability to lift 20 pounds; bend, sit, stand when conducting daily job duties.  Candidates must have a high school degree or equivalent.  A two-year Associate Degree is preferred and certified by ASQ is desirable.

Quality Engineering Technician

Remtec, Inc., a fast-growing manufacturer of metallized ceramic substrates and packages is currently seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position quality engineering technician in our Norwood, MA facility.

The position is responsible for performing incoming, work in process and final inspection of electronic components, packages, metalized ceramics and hybrid products.  The position is also responsible for performing First Article Inspections and generating reports in accordance with MIL-PRF-38534 and AS9102; developing and writing work/inspection instructions, conducting functional testing of products including solderability, electrical testing, wire bonding and physical measurements, tracking and reporting process trend information, help conduct ISO 9001 internal audits; maintenance of QMS documentation.  Maintaining quality records and generating reports as needed, maintain material certification records, performs equipment calibrations as necessary, update and maintain safety records, research background information for customer complaints, and complete other tasks as required.

The qualified candidate should be self-motivated and a good team player.  Should have a working understanding of basic engineering drawings, can use microscope, micrometers, calipers, coordinate measuring equipment, profilometer, and CMM instrumentation; can work independently with limited supervision, be proficient with MS Office, have a basic knowledge of statistical methodology, and have good verbal and written communication skills.  Candidates must have a two-year Associate Degree or equivalent, five years’ work experience in electronic/technical manufacturing environment in Quality.  ASQ affiliation/certification is desirable.

Process Development Engineer

Remtec, Inc., a growing manufacturer of metalized ceramic substrates and packages is currently seeking a qualified candidate to fill a process development engineer position in thick films, surface finish and packaging. In this position you will be a part of the process, design and manufacturing engineering team.

The position is responsible for process/packaging development and sustaining engineering of Remtec products. Must have at least 5-10 years of experience in Manufacturing/Process Engineering as well as R&D activity in the area of Hybrid Microcircuits, Thick/Thin Film Processing, and Packaging Technology. Good working knowledge of materials processing in the following areas: screen printing, high temperature firing, photolithography and etching, plating, lapping/polishing, laser trimming and testing, dicing and assembly. Some experience with plating on ceramic or plating of ceramic electronic components is a definite plus. Hands on experience with MIL specs and methods is also desirable.

Should be a good a team player. Ability to perform experimental work environment and be self motivated. Successful candidate should have good understanding of related manufacturing equipment, good analytical skills, be a problem solver and quick learner. Ability to perform in a dynamic, rapidly growing and fast pace company with multifaceted responsibilities and multi-discipline approach. B. Sc. in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, electronic technology or material science is required. Good verbal and written communications skills.

Thick Film Hybrid Application Engineer

Remtec, Inc. a leading manufacturer of custom PCTF® ceramic products is currently looking for an Application Engineer to complement the existing sales and application engineering organization in Norwood, MA.

This position requires a BS in engineering, preferably in the materials or mechanical discipline with a preference of two years of Technical Sales and Application Engineering experience, although entry level may be considered. The ideal candidate will be an innovative team oriented individual skilled in working with customers, process engineers and product managers on the development, planning and manufacturing of custom products.

Good knowledge of all aspects of thick film technology including materials, processes and applications. Exposure to thin film technology and electronic plating is preferred. Experience in ceramic industry, electronic components and packages is a definite plus. Working knowledge of quality systems, mechanical drawings and general manufacturing as well as well-developed oral, written and excellent communication time skills is required.

Ability to work with customers to understand their products, capture their requirements and guide them in implementing our technology. Ability to identify and select the most appropriate technology from the available options; perform detailed cost estimates and prepare quotations.
