Remtec was excited to be featured this week in WCVB’s “Made in Mass” TV series. Hosted by well-known and well-regarded anchor/reporter, Doug Meehan, the “Made in Mass” series spotlights companies who are manufacturing technology or other goods right here in Massachusetts.
Here’s an excerpt from the segment:
From radar systems used by the military to dental X-ray equipment used by your dentist, Remtec in Canton is playing a critical role in making those products work.
“We make electronic components, packaging, substrates, printed circuit boards,” said Remtec President Brian Buyea.
Inside the company’s new 55,000-square-foot manufacturing facility, Remtec builds ecosystems for computer chips. The systems are then used by other companies for a variety of applications.
“We’ll do small batches. Tens of pieces all the way up through hundreds, thousands of pieces for customers,” Buyea said. Manufacturing the products uses a process known as thick film technology (think T-shirt screen printing).
But instead of creating a novelty shirt, it’s all about high-tech materials.
“Our products are not really widgets that you can go and buy. Our products are our processes and our ability to make electronics in novel ways,” Buyea said. From semi-conductor equipment to F-35 fighter jets to a switch that goes into a radar or satellite system, nearly half of Remtec’s business partners are related to the military.
