Remtec today published a new datasheet for its Laser Diode Submount product family — the first ‘standard’ product offered by the company.
“Since we’ve had a continuous — indeed increased — demand for this kind of product recently, we believed it was time that we offered this item as something like an off-the-shelf product line,” said Remtec’s business development manager, Chandra Gupta. “As such, we’re answering an ongoing need in the market, but also demonstrating Remtec innovation and adaptability.”
Here’s an excerpt from the new document:
“The generation of coherent and monochromatic laser sources have been instrumental in fields such as communications, medicine, defense, R&D, sensing, IT, LiDAR (Light detection and ranging), and consumer goods. Lasers are widely used in industry for materials processing, marking, engraving, and photolithography. High-power materials processing (>1 kW) is mainly used to cut or weld thick metal sheets or tubes. Lasers offer maintenance, efficiency,
and operational cost advantages over mechanical cutting methods such as blades, punch presses, and waterjet.
Laser submounts are key to manage heat in the laser semiconductor sources providing efficient path for excessive heat conduction moving it away from the semiconductor to heat sinks. These submounts are ideal way to manage and remove heat from the source.”
